Alex Hahn

alex-hahn-photo-1Alex Hahn is an award winning saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator. His love for performing began in the summer of 2010 when he performed at the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl Stage. A 2014 graduate from the University of North Texas, Alex Hahn had the pleasure of playing in the 7-time Grammy Nominated One O’clock Lab Band and is a featured soloist on the Lab 2014 album. In addition, Hahn is a 6-time Downbeat Magazine Award Winner, 3-time Outstanding Soloist at the Next Generation Jazz Festival, and 1st Place winner in the 2016 North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Saxophone Competition. He also won the Perform with Mintzer Competition and had the privilege of performing with saxophone legend Bob Mintzer in Chicago.
Still early in his career, Hahn has had the opportunity to play with many prominent jazz artists such as Michael Bublé, Bob Mintzer, Wayne Bergeron, Gordon Goodwin, Peter Erskine, John Clayton, Wycliffe Gordon, Greg Osby, and Barbara Morrison. He spent the summer of 2013 as a member of the Disney All-American College Band and was chosen to return as the teaching assistant the following year. His TV credits include two episodes of the hit show GLEE and several commercials, including a Star Wars toy commercial. Hahn has been a guest artist and clinician at a variety of middle and high schools across the country and excels in sharing his knowledge with young aspiring musicians. Hahn is also a reoccurring soloist with the Tom Kubis Big Band and frequently performs with his award-winning quintet in the Southern California area. Most recently, Hahn recorded with Michael Bublé for his newest album and looks forward to continuing his professional career in Los Angeles.
Hahn is a 2016 graduate from the USC Thornton School of Music where he studied as a Graduate student and Teaching Assistant under Jason Goldman and Bob Mintzer. He currently is a student at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz under the direction of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. The group has performed at the Panama Jazz Festival, Sitka Jazz Festival, and will be performing in Cuba for International Jazz Day. The band also regularly gives master classes and clinics in the Southern California area.
