John Trombetta has recently relocated to the East Bay after a long stint in the New York City music scene where he has performed with such artists as Paul Anka, Frankie Valli, Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer, Johnny Mathis, George Benson, Alicia Keys, Liza Minelli, Luthor Vandross, Michael Feinstein, Joe Williams, Ashford&Simpson, Florence Henderson, Nelly Furtado, Vic Damone, Lucy Arnez, Roy Clark, Al Martino, BoysIIMen, BackStreet Boys, Kid Rock, Bernadette Peters, Isaac Mizrahi, Audra McDonald, Judy Collins, The Temptations, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Robert Davi, Spoon and numerous others.
John was a member of the Radio City Orchestra, and the New York area Aretha Franklin Band. He has also lent his big band sound to the Rickey Minor band, Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Symphony/Pops, Columbia Artists Group, Big Apple Circus, Westchester Broadway Theater, The Rainbow Room Orchestra, Frank Perowsky Jazz Orchestra, Village Vanguear Jazz Orchestra, Carnagie Hall Jazz Orchestra, Artie Shaw Jazz Orchestra, George Gee Swing Orchestra, Cabot-Scott Orchestra, Stan Rubin Jazz Orchestra, Mike Longo Big Band, Starlight Orchestra, Vali Orchestras, The Rat Pack is Back, The Harry James Band and the Guy Lombardo Orchestra among others.
On Broadway, he has played in numerous pit orchestras including for Hair, Swing, How to Succeed in Business, Annie, Fosse, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, 42nd Street and Ghost as well as playing with several National Touring companies. He has also played with productions at the Williamstown Theater Festival, the New Victory Theater and the NY Public Theater.
John has a degree in Jazz Studies and Performance from William Paterson University. His teachers included Claude Gordon, Laurie Fink and Vincent Penzerella. He teaches privately including Bb trumpet, flugelhorn, piccolo trumpet, C trumpet and cornet.
