Dave Len Scott

Dave is from Ann Arbor, Michigan. He studied instrumental music education at the University of Michigan and completed graduate school at the University of Northern Colorado where he worked as both a classical and jazz teaching assistant. As a classical trumpeter, he has recorded and/or performed with the San Francisco Symphony Pops, Honolulu Symphony, and the Santa Rosa Symphony, and performed as guest soloist with the San Francisco Sinfonietta Orchestra.

Dave is the founder of TRUMPETSUPERGROUP. He has performed on three Grammy-nominated albums (Rosemary Clooney, “Sentimental Journey”; Doug Beavers, “Jazz, Baby!”; Rosemary Clooney, “The Last Concert”), and enjoys teaching trumpet and improvisation in the San Francisco Bay Area (Trumpet Instructor and Lecturer at Sonoma State University since 2012, and Jazz Instructor at the Jazzschool since 2005). Dave Len Scott studied jazz trumpet with Louis Smith, and has toured and recorded with Boz Scaggs, TOTO, Rosemary Clooney, Michael Feinstein, Tommy Igoe, the Realistic Orchestra, the Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra, the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Brass Monkey Brass Band, the Dave Scott Jazz Quartet, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Dave is also a pianist.

From 2004 to 2008, Dave could be seen playing keyboards and trumpet, sometimes simultaneously, in the Boz Scaggs Band. His jazz piano accompanying skills are also an important part of his approach to teaching jazz. As a jazz teacher and History of Jazz lecturer, Mr. Scott currently works as Adjunct Faculty for the JazzSchool and the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley CA, and taught Jazz History and Jazz Improvisation at San Francisco State University 2014-2015. Dave is also a private trumpet instructor who studied with Armando Ghitalla, former principal trumpeter of the Boston Symphony.
